Scaffolding

Temporary supports that help students access content they couldn't yet handle independently.

Scaffolding means breaking a complex task into smaller steps, modeling thinking aloud, providing sentence stems, graphic organizers, or partial examples — then gradually removing the support as students gain independence. The goal is always to remove the scaffold, not to keep it forever.
